about John
John is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). John also is a graduate of London University.
John worked in public practice until 1992 and then joined ICAEW who he worked for from 1992.
Until 2011 he was a Manager in the Quality Assurance Department (QAD) and has been involved in audit and DPB and Practice Assurance visits to firms of all sizes. John transferred in 2011 to the ICAEW Member’s Department Practice Support Services and was ICAEW’s Practice Consultant. That department closed on 31 December 2015.
On 1 January 2016 John commenced practice providing the compliance services noted on this website.
John provides the services below for firms across the whole of the UK including Scotland, England and Wales. John’s clients are considerably different in size.
John reviews audit files ranging from fully listed files (on both the UK and European stock markets), regulated files and corporate files. Turnover of these clients ranges from £1bn US$ to a few thousand £UK. So the variation of his clientbase is significant as is his experience. John provides Engagement Quality Control Reviews (EQCR) for Registered Auditors of listed clients, hot reviews where the auditor requires a second review due to complex issues or regulatory requirements and cold reviews to assist John’s clients in complying with the Audit Regulations. John reviews a considerable number of audit files annually.
John has acted for clients from the A-group, currently acts for one client in the top 30 and a number of clients in the top 50 and more in the top 100. John also acts for sole practitioners and is happy to provide services to registered auditors and member firms of ICAEW or ACCA of whatever size. John believes that the varying size and location of his clientbase is helpful in that it provides John with exposure to clients of all sizes.
John also provides services for one client in Cyprus and has provided technical advice and facilitation to clients in Jersey and the Isle of Man.
With electronic access location is not an issue and John is happy to provide services to clients wherever situated. John’s advice does not extend to taxation matters , mainstream FCA investment advice or insolvency advice.
